Andrew Leyva ’06

Andrew Leyva commissioned from UVA in May 2006 as a Field Artillery officer.  He attended Basic Officer Leader’s Course and the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course.  Following OBC, he was assigned to the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood, TX.  He served as a Fire Support Officer and Executive Officer for 1-12 Infantry.  Andrew then moved to the 1st Cavalry Division and deployed as a platoon leader with 5-82 FA and 1-9 CAV in 2008.  Upon redeployment, he served as the HHT XO for 1-9 CAV.

Andrew joined the Army Reserve from active duty in June 2010 and branch transferred to Military Intelligence.  He graduated from the Military Intelligence Captains Career Course and the Intelligence Combat Training Center.  His current assignment is with the DIA’s Afghan-Pakistan Task Force at the Pentagon.  In his civilian job, Andrew is a Lead Associate with Booz Allen Hamilton supporting Army intelligence contracts.
