Ernest Campbell “Boots” Mead Award Recipient – Luke Bellamy Corey

In honor of Mr. Mead, longtime faculty advisor and honorary brother of the Zeta Chapter of Kappa Sigma, the brothers of the Zeta Chapter established the Ernest Campbell “Boots” Mead Award in April of 2012. The award recognizes a graduating brother who has demonstrated exemplary leadership, character, humility, and service within the Zeta Chapter, and who is deemed most deserving of special recognition. Most importantly, the recipient is one who has maintained the utmost respect and regard among the brotherhood. Recipients of the award are recognized on a plaque hung in McCormick Hall.

The 2021 recipient of the “Boots” Award is Luke Bellamy Corey of Tampa, Florida. Luke lived in McCormick Hall for two years and consistently devoted his time, effort, and energy to the house. While at the University, Luke served as a Vice President in the McIntire Sales and Trading Group and a University Guide. He was an exemplary brother of the Zeta Chapter and a deserving recipient of the honor.

Shrine Scholar – Noah Patrick Basile

It is only appropriate that a Kappa Sigma resides in the room where William Grigsby McCormick and company founded the Zeta Chapter in December of 1869. Thanks to alumni support and University respect, the Zeta Chapter is proud to select a 4th year brother each year as Shrine Scholar to reside in 46 East Lawn. The Shrine Scholar is a brother who exemplifies the principles of the Zeta Chapter and will represent the fraternity honorably at the heart of Jefferson’s Academical Village. The Shrine Scholar must not only hold high academic credentials, but must also be an important contributor to both the fraternity and the broader University community.

The 2021-2022 Shrine Scholar is Noah Patrick Basile. Noah is a fourth year from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and is studying Computer Science and Psychology. Since arriving at the University, Noah has found extracurricular engagement in Student Entrepreneurs for Economic Development (SEED), the McIntire Investment Institute (MII), Sustained Dialogue, and the Latino Student Network at McIntire (LSN). Upon his graduation, Noah will begin working as an Associate Consultant with Bain & Company in Boston, Massachusetts. The Zeta Chapter is fortunate to have Noah as a brother representing the chapter at 46 East Lawn.
