Leslie Leighton ’74 | 2015 was a big year for this old dude. Finished my doctoral dissertation and received my PhD from Emory University in May. Presented my work at the National Meeting of Physician Scholars (MD/PhDs) at the University of Pennsylvania. Was featured in Emory Magazine. Got married to my girlfriend/partner/graduate school classmate on July 4th with my four children and two grandchildren in attendance. She is an assistant professor at Emory medical school. Went to Italy for our honeymoon. I am the faculty adviser for the new SAM chapter at Emory which is doing really well.. Look forward to being in Charlottesville in late March of 2016 for the Southern Gerontological Association meeting.

Received my PhD from Emory in 2015 and now teaching American History and History of Public Health and Medicine at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. Also in 2015, married Ann Vandenberg who is a gerontologist at Emory Medical School. She studies the aged and I function as a good specimen in that regard. Look forward to coming to my 45th UVA reunion in 2019. updated: December 2017
