Philanthropy

Each year, Theta Chi holds its annual Battle of the Bands philanthropy event. This year’s event benefited the National Alliance against Mental Illness (NAMI) chapter at the University of Virginia, an organization whose mission is “to promote mindfulness and the stimulate a positive and healthy mentality amongst [the] students, [the] faculty members, and members of [the] Charlottesville community.” By focusing on the issue of mental health at home, we hope to make the greatest difference.

Visit NAMI at UVa here.

Several brothers have been actively involved in the organization at the University because of the personal impact mental health has had on our brothers recently. As a brotherhood, we tabled around grounds to sell t-shirts and take donations for the cause. On the last day of classes, the event took place at a local venue, Boylan Heights. Congratulations to The Kairos Effect, the winner of this year’s event. In fact, we raised over $2,850 this past year, which went directly to NAMI at UVa.

We are always looking for further opportunities to enhance community involvement. Feel free to contact either of our Philanthropy Chairs with any ideas, as we are always looking for further opportunities to enhance community involvement.
