Alumni Interest Group Leaders,
With the end of the calendar year quickly approaching, we wanted to send some reminders about upcoming communication deadlines, items to consider while fundraising, and information surrounding holiday closure dates.
End-of-Year Communications Deadlines
As a reminder, deadlines are in place for both printed and electronic materials to ensure that there is enough time to create and distribute information to all your constituents by the end of December. Those deadlines are listed below:
Monday, November 8: all content due for printed materials
Friday, December 3: all content due for electronic materials
All communication materials should be sent to Emma Baumgardner. When finalizing your end of year communication plans, take into account the size of your organization as electronic materials are financially more feasible for larger groups.
End-of-Year Fundraising and Giving Tuesday
As you begin to structure your end of year communications, please note that we are approaching the end of the tax year. This will be most relevant when structuring your fundraising campaigns and donation deadlines. Our team can assist in putting together a fundraising communication plan. If you’re interested in having our team assist you, please contact aig@virgina.edu. Additionally, this year’s Giving Tuesday will take place on November 30, 2021.
Due to the delay in processing end-of-year donations, the December donor reports will be sent in late January to ensure all year-end giving is included. Further information will be sent in December, and any questions can be directed to Erin Sprouse.
Holiday Closings
With several holidays approaching, both the Alumni Association’s holiday closure information and staff out of office dates are included below:
Thanksgiving Closure: November 24 – 26, 2021
Winter Closure: December 20 – 31, 2021*
*Our team’s last business day of the year is December 17, 2021. The UVA Fund will continue to process gifts throughout the end of the calendar year. Please plan accordingly; see this guide for end of year giving information.
