Jack T. Chen Scholarship Application Form

The AAPAAN Jack T. Chen Memorial Scholarship is a scholarship founded in 2011 to provide financial support to current 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year students at the University of Virginia (“U.Va.”) to help them achieve their academic success. The scholarship is awarded annually in the spring and the recipients will be selected by AAPAAN. The criteria for selection will include academic merit, financial need, and contributions to the Asian/Asian Pacific American (“APA”) community at U.Va. or elsewhere. Two awards will be given to two students in the amount of one thousand dollars ($1000.00). The funds will be disbursed in the Fall of 2015.

The criteria for the scholarship include:

  • Full-time student in good standing at U.Va. “Full time” and “good standing” shall have the respective meaning as provided for in the rules and regulations of the applicant’s respective undergraduate school.
  • Current 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year.
  • Applicant does not need to be of Asian/Asian Pacific American descent, however, the applicant’s involvement and contribution to the Asian/Asian Pacific American community at U.Va. or elsewhere will be considered in the award of the scholarship.

The deadline for submission for the 2015 Jack T. Chen scholarship is January 31, 2015. The funds will be disbursed in the fall of 2015. All applicants will receive a notification regarding the status of their applications once the committee has come to a decision.
