This summer, thanks to generous support from the Cavalier Daily Alumni Association, The Cavalier Daily will host a summer staff in Charlottesville, consisting of a summer editor, two summer reporters, and a production staffer. This summer’s team will start mid-June and will publish daily online content and produce two print issues.
The first of those print issues will be a special orientation issue aimed at welcoming incoming first-year students and their families into the University community. The issue will be distributed at each summer orientation session so new University students can get acquainted with The Cavalier Daily right when they get to Grounds. It will feature guides on what to do in Charlottesville, where to eat, who’s who and how to adjust to life on Grounds, as well as important news updates and summaries of what the major news has been on Grounds over the past year.
The second issue will come out in August and will feature all the important news from the summer for those of our readers who are still in town, offering a look back at what the summer months have brought for U.Va. as well as previews of what to expect before school starts.
We’re excited to have a summer staff in Charlottesville so we can continue to provide our readers with consistent, in-depth coverage no matter where they spend their summers, and so members of our staff have the chance to produce high-quality journalism even after the school year ends.
