Dear Cavalier Daily alumni,
We hope you are staying as safe and well as possible during these tumultuous times. As the University approaches the start of the fall semester, the Cavalier Daily Alumni Association needs to hold our annual elections and plan for the year ahead.
On August 2, the CDAA will convene (via teleconference) to fill several open seats on our board and set some goals and priorities heading into this academic year.
All Cavalier Daily alumni are invited to apply for a board position.
Responsibilities of joining the CDAA board include:
- Planning and participating in quarterly board meetings
- Spending 1-2 hours per month on projects that support alumni engagement, fundraising, and/or professional development and operational support for CD staff
- Spending 2-3 hours annually helping us promote CDAA giving campaigns during the Holidays and GivingToHoos Day
- Representing the CDAA at events such as our Fall Tailgate & Dinner and Spring Reunion Event
Benefits include meeting regularly with current CD leadership, networking with fellow CD alumni, receiving occasional CD print editions and branded swag, and most importantly, contributing to efforts to sustain the future of independent journalism at UVA.
If you are interested in joining the board or want to learn more about the role, please email CDAA President Matt Cameron at mcc5cf@virginia.edu by July 26.
Additionally, if you would like to participate in the August 2 meeting and/or receive a readout from the meeting, please get in touch with Matt for more details.
In closing, we want to note that Cavalier Daily staff members have been busy this summer, covering COVID-19, anti-racist activism and how the University is planning for the upcoming year, among other topics. We encourage you to follow their reporting online at https://www.cavalierdaily.com/.
The CD’s Editor-in-Chief, Nik Popli, will be in touch next month with a more comprehensive update on the newspaper’s current work and initiatives.
Sincerely,
Matt Cameron
President, Cavalier Daily Alumni Association
