Dear Cavalier Daily alumni,

We hope you are safe and healthy this holiday season.

This month saw the conclusion of a historic, mostly-virtual semester at the University of Virginia, which The Cavalier Daily staff documented with consistent and in-depth news coverage. It was a unique and challenging experience for the CD staff to do this important work away from the newsroom for the first time in the organization’s history, yet the print pages and website have been filled with stories about how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the University community and the City of Charlottesville. This is in addition to the sports reporting, opinion pieces, and arts coverage that this team of talented student journalists publishes every day.

Support Student Journalism

The Cavalier Daily Alumni Association has played a critical role in supporting the CD’s operations, and this collaboration would not be possible without generous contributions from our alumni community.

Please consider making a gift to the CDAA this holiday season in light of the CD’s outstanding work covering the story of a lifetime. Your donation will help the CD continue to meet its operating expenses, while supporting new methods of digital journalism, staff training, and professional development opportunities at a time when staff events are more difficult than ever to organize.

Many of you already showed your support earlier this month on Giving Tuesday. We appreciate your commitment to the CD’s staff and their independent journalism.

If you are still looking for a way to support the University community this holiday season, we invite you to join us in supporting The Cavalier Daily’s tireless work.

Sincerely,

Matt Cameron
President, Cavalier Daily Alumni Association
