The Gilbert J. Sullivan Distinguished Service Award

The Virginia Glee Club Alumni & Friends Association awards the Gilbert J. Sullivan Distinguished Service Award to an individual whose tireless efforts, selfless dedication, and continuing support have contributed in a significant way to the success of the Virginia Glee Club. The award is given in honor of Gilbert J. “Gilly” Sullivan ’48, who embodied these ideals throughout his career, and who was instrumental in ensuring that the Glee Club made its successful transition from a curricular activity to an independent organization in 1989. Mr. Sullivan was an administrator for the Alumni Association was instrumental in fostering strong relationships between the Alumni Association and many student organizations, including the Glee Club.
