Henry McDavid Reed

Lambda Brothers and Alumni,

It is with a heavy heart that I tell you our brother Henry McDavid Reed passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019, from complications following a brain tumor. He was surrounded by a loving family. Henry’s presence and cheerful attitude will be forever missed in the KA house, though his memory will never be forgotten.

Henry was a rising third-year from Annapolis, MD, majoring in Economics. He was an extremely bright young man who excelled in all areas of his life. His smile was infectious, and with subtle jokes and well-timed phrases, Henry could brighten anyone’s day with his notorious humor. A fantastic student, Henry was always willing to lend a hand to any brother that needed help with their studies, or any other aspect of their lives. He also excelled in many sports, specifically soccer – the fact that he was a staple of KA’s intramural soccer team only further cements this fact. More important than school or sports, however, was Henry’s commitment to his community. He spent time volunteering with Creating Assets, Savings, and Hope (CASH) through the Madison House here at UVA, but more than that, he was a positive influence on any and all of the members of this fraternity. No matter his circumstances, we all could count on Henry to put on a smile and do his best to brighten our lives.

Henry’s family is hosting a celebration of his life on Saturday, September 14, 2019. Unfortunately, this means we will be canceling our alumni tailgate so that our members can attend this gathering. We are currently working on rescheduling the event and will reach out with details at a later date.

Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Sincerely,
Landon Greene
