Letter from Column Club

Black and White PSK crestGentlemen,

Our chapter was at the brink of dissolution during the COVID epidemic in 2021, but they have weathered the crisis in membership, going from a low point of six members up to 21 members returning this coming fall. They have recruited a strong group of men who can carry Psi chapter forward to continued success. The remaining challenges for the chapter are to grow the size of the chapter further, and broaden the academic range of the brotherhood, which is currently tilted towards the engineering school. The chapter can also start considering what sort of identity they may want for themselves in the University community, and how to go about creating that.

We are very grateful for the continued support provided by our alumni. Many alumni have stepped up over the past several years, donating both time and money to support the chapter. We have done our best to thank everyone for their support, and I want to reiterate our appreciation of all your help.

A key to our path ahead is a long-term solution for our aging home. In the near term, we have concentrated on fixing several major problems to keep the house in a reasonable condition for the chapter. Your support has been vital in allowing us to continue these essential repairs, but a genuine long-term solution will involve a renovation to the chapter house. I would greatly appreciate any thoughts or questions you have on this issue.

Finally, as a brother who first met the chapter in the fall of 1974, I am very excited to get together with other brothers at the planned reunion in Northern Virginia in August. I look forward to best friends, good food and refreshment, and maybe singing an off-color song or two.

Fraternally,

Bill Hamilton ’79
