Serving on the regional Board or a committee requires a gift of time, but can be very rewarding for both you and our scholars! The work of the board and our committees helps shape the direction and development of the regional scholarship, but also offers you the opportunity for university/community engagement through service.

Call for Committee Volunteers
The Richmond Region has a number of committees that enable the board to meet goals for the year and support the Richmond Region’s strategic plan. Send your completed volunteer form to javonalbraxton@yahoo.com

Schools Outreach Committee. The Schools Outreach Committee oversees and administers the scholarship award process in collaboration with The National Board. The Committee makes recommendations for changes in policies, processes and procedures used in the selection process of awards, and conducts outreach activities to middle schools and high schools in the Richmond metropolitan area and surrounding counties. The outreach includes Richmond’s celebrated John Merchant Book Award awarded annually in collaboration with The Richmond Club’s Jefferson Book Award.
Development Committee. The Development Committee supports the Director of Development’s capital raising efforts for Richmond Ridley. This includes, but is not to be limited to, various capital raising activities: the identification of potential donors, initiation of development activities, and execution of fundraising campaigns. The committee reports its findings and recommendations to the Board. The Treasurer shall be a member of this committee.
Events Committee. The Committee oversees the planning of Richmond Ridley events, including, but not limited to, an annual Ridley awareness event co-sponsored with UVA Club of Richmond and two development events coordinated with the Development Committee.
