Nena Evans (Richmond Ridley Clarence Cain Scholar, Class of 2016) will begin working with The Markel Corporation following graduation. She will serve as a Business Intelligence Analyst.

Ravynn Stringfield (Ridley Reid Scholar, Class of 2016) has received a full scholarship to pursue her Master’s and Ph.D. in American Studies at William & Mary.

Kiera Givens (Holland-Blackburn Scholar, Class of 2017) has accepted an internship with the Maryland Sea Grant Research Experience in Marine Sciences at Horn Point Laboratory this summer. Additionally, Kiera is now a member of the Raven Society.

Jacob Uskavitch (Sylvia V. Terry Scholar, Class of 2017) has accepted an internship for the summer break with the Vanderbilt University Department of Biomedical Informatics. In this position, Jacob will be researching the Role of Routines in Diabetes Self-Care. Upon his return to school in the fall, Jacob will serve as the first Chair of the Black Presidents Council.

Dominique Willis (Gregory Ledford Scholar, Class of 2017) will be traveling to New York this summer to intern once again with Facebook.

Bianca Decatur (Holland-Blackburn Scholar, Class of 2018) was recently selected as a Rotunda Student Ambassador.

Jasmine Zollar (Richmond Ridley Clarence Cain Scholar, Class of 2018) became a member of the Kappa Rho Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Bianca Decatur and Jasmine Zollar (Class of 2018) are two of the twenty-five Second Year students selected for the Meriwether Lewis Leadership Institute for Citizen Leadership. This multi-year fellowship prepares students for a lifetime of leadership at UVA and beyond.

Stephanie Durham (Ridley Flagship Scholar, Class of 2018) was elected secretary of Green Grounds, a CIO dedicated to educating and advocating sustainable planning, design, implementation, and operation on and around the University of Virginia. Stephanie will be conducting research on Grounds this summer analyzing data concerning mountain meteorology for the Environmental Sciences Department.

Micah Watson (Holland-Blackburn Scholar, Class of 2018) was honored by the 21 Society as one of the “21 Most Influential Second Years” on Grounds. Micah has revived the Paul Robeson Players, a Black Theater CIO. She was recently named as a Miller Arts Scholar Rising Third-Year award recipient. Micah has been selected for an internship with cable network TV One starting in June.

Tyler Ambrose (Ridley Flagship Scholar, Class of 2018) has been accepted into the Politics Honors Program. He has also been selected as a Senior Resident for one of the First Year dorms for next year. Tyler has been chosen for a coveted intern position in the Office of the Attorney General (VA) for this upcoming summer.

Triston Smith (Ridley Flagship Scholar, Class of 2019) successfully applied for the Keller Grant to travel back to Brazil for a summer internship with Conviva Brasil in Belem. Triston will be responsible for setting the foundation for the education-based non-profit organization. In addition, Triston will make the trek to Salvador, Brazil to work with Brazil Cultural. He will work with students to improve their English as they prepare for college entrance exams to schools where proficiency in the language is vital.
