2014 Recipients

GrayCindy Gray

Cindy Gray is a Fifth Year studying psychology and Early Childhood Special Education in the Curry School. She has been involved in many LGBT organizations, and was a co-President for the Queer Student Union (QSU) for two years. As a First-Year, the QSU helped her feel incredibly welcomed, and has she enjoyed being able to give other incoming students a fun, diverse, and safe place in QSU. She also volunteers as a panelist on the LGBT Speaker’s Bureau. Cindy has also volunteered in many preschools, and is currently student teaching in a wonderful 3 year old class. After she graduates, Cindy hopes to teach preschool in sunny California, making sure all her students know that everyone is different, and that’s what makes the world fun.

 

 

wapnerAbe Wapner

Abe Wapner is a fourth year undergraduate foreign affairs and history major in the College of Arts and Sciences. An active member of the LGBTQ community since his since his first year, Abe most recently finished a term as the Queer Student Union’s vice president. He also works closely with the LGBTQ Center and the Lawn community to increase LGBTQ visibility at UVa. In the future, Abe plans to continue dedicating his time to the promotion of LGBTQ rights and acceptance.
