Marie Olavere is an undergraduate, rising fourth year College of Arts and Sciences student majoring in History. For her Senior Thesis in the History department she is writing on the topic of Asian Americans in Civil Rights Movements. This is Marie’s third year serving as an intern with the LGBTQ Center, where he manages the Speakers Bureau and other outreach programs to engage the diversity of LGBTQ students at the University. Marie is also a 4th Year Trustee and a board member of Athletes for Equality, and has through AfE hosted round table discussions about topics including sportscasting and transgender inclusion in the Olympics. After graduation, Marie plans to pursue a career in Law or Arts Administration and Management, and particularly hopes to be working in a museum setting. In her free time she enjoys spending time with family and friends and exploring Charlottesville.
