Catalina Pinto graduated from the College of Arts & Sciences this past May with her BA in Philosophy. During her time at the University, she aimed to improve the student experience for underrepresented students in different ways. During her first years, she focused her time to doing this through the Latinx Student Alliance and Student Council. In the fall of 2014, she formed part of the group that created the Multicultural Student Center Initiative and dedicated the following two years to seeing that project through. Finally, during her fourth year, she had the great honor of serving at the Multicultural Student Center’s first Student Director.

Since graduating in May, Catalina has been spending a gap year in Argentina with her family. She intends to pursue a career in diversity and inclusion strategy in the private sector with the hopes of someday coming back to work at her alma mater.

Santiago Naranjo is a 2017 graduate of the McIntire School of Commerce, where he concentrated in Marketing and Management. Outside of the classroom, Santiago focused his energies on several diversity initiatives. For example, he dialogued about social justice and minority rights issues as a moderator in Sustained Dialogue and as the co-President of PULSE Dialogue Retreat; he advocated for low-income and first-generation college students as the co-President of U-FUSED; and he raised awareness about issues of poverty and food insecurity as a participant and site leader of Alternative Spring Break.

In his final year at the University, Santiago combined his interests in social justice issues and the business world by interning at McIntire’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. As an intern, he led a team at the Indiana University National Diversity Case Competition and started a student group called Pride at McIntire. Under his leadership, Pride at McIntire successfully hosted the Commerce School’s first-ever Pride Week, which consisted of events such as a Safe Space Training and a panel about being “out” in the workplace. As a recent graduate, Santiago continues to pursue his interest in diversity and inclusion through his job as a Human Resources Rotation Program Associate at Capital One in McLean, Virginia.
