Letter From Community Service and Philanthropy Co-Chiars, Alex Street (Col ’27) and Ethan Ellis (Col ’27)

This is Alex Street (Col ’27) and Ethan Ellis (Col ’27), and we are honored to introduce ourselves as Sigma Nu Beta’s new Community Service and Philanthropy Chairmen for the upcoming year. As we prepare to step into these roles next semester, we find ourselves both inspired and motivated by the outstanding efforts of our predecessors. This past semester, their leadership helped raise over $5,000 for impactful organizations such as the Sexual Assault Resource Agency of Charlottesville, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, and Service for Sight. Beyond fundraising, our brothers dedicated countless volunteer hours to initiatives like UVA Sustainability and other meaningful causes, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to service both on Grounds and in the greater Charlottesville community.

Building on this strong foundation is a challenge we are eager to embrace. Our vision for the coming year is to match these achievements and exceed them by fostering a deeper culture of service within Sigma Nu. This means raising even more funds for critical causes, expanding our volunteer efforts, and strengthening Sigma Nu’s reputation as a leader in community engagement at UVA and beyond. We are particularly focused on forging stronger partnerships with local and other Greek organizations and exploring innovative, sustainable ways to make a lasting impact.
Taking on this responsibility is both a privilege and a serious commitment for us. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to lead our brotherhood in giving back to the university and the community that has given us so much. We hope to honor Sigma Nu’s legacy of service with our fellow brothers while striving to make an even greater difference in the semesters ahead.

We look forward to working alongside all of you as we continue this important mission of service and philanthropy.

Fraternally,
Alex Street (Col ’27) and Ethan Ellis (Col ’27)
