My name is Tommy Breslin (Col ’26), and I am a third-year Computer Science and Financial Mathematics major from Fairfax, VA. I am honored and excited to be stepping into the position of Beta Chapter Commander. I have witnessed the effective leadership of my predecessors, Quentin Shin (Engr ’25) and Jack Billies (Col ’24), and I want to continue building upon their successes and regain Rock Chapter status.
One of my priorities is to bolster our alumni support, an area in which Lachlan Bill (Com ’26) and Quentin Shin made great strides last year. I have personally experienced the immense value of having an active alumni network, whether through guidance provided to Exec Officers by the Alumni Advisory Board, receiving professional advice from alumni regarding my prospective career fields, or simply connecting with and learning from some of our incredible brothers who came before me. I intend to continue cultivating these connections and ensure alumni remain engaged in the chapter.
Another goal I have for my term is to increase the philanthropic efforts of our chapter. By providing more opportunities for brothers to serve the community, such as volunteering for initiatives like Corner Cleanup or supporting organizations like the Yellow Door Foundation, we can ensure that Sigma Nu continues to have a positive and meaningful presence in Charlottesville. Additionally, we have set ambitious goals for fundraising this upcoming semester and plan to achieve them through frequent and effective fundraisers, collaborating with both Greek and non-Greek organizations.
Coming into UVA, I was unsure if I wanted to join a fraternity. However, I am extremely thankful that I joined Sigma Nu, as it has given me a community and opportunities for self-growth. I feel obligated to give back to the brotherhood that has given me so much and ensure all our brothers have the same positive experience. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for us, and I am confident in the Exec board’s ability to lead, plan events, and serve the chapter.
Fraternally,
Tommy Breslin (Col ’26)
