RFY 2013
Beta Bridge painted for Run for Yeards

By Caroline Inglesby ’14

On Saturday, April 20, Theta hosted the second annual 5k race, Run for Yeards. The race originated last year after Theta decided to raise funds to honor Yeardley Reynolds Love, ’10. Other races such as Every Yard for Yeardley have been very successful, so Theta wanted to do something similar remembering Yeardley’s friendship and athletic ability.

The proceeds from the race went towards the One Love Foundation as well as the Yeardley Love Endowment Scholarship. Over 200 runners came out to participate in the race. Many students and families donated to the philanthropy as well. Overall, we raised $5,747.75. This money will be used to remember Yeardley’s accomplishments, bring awareness towards domestic violence, and grant scholarship money toward students who live their lives to the fullest, like Yeardley did. T-shirts from the race are still for sale at the school bookstore.

The race was a big success. From preparing for the race and setting up to running together and talking at the reception, we all kept Yeardley’s memory in our hearts.
