Caitlin Schram, 2015 Yeardley Love Endowment Scholarship recipient

Every year, the Delta Chi chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta requests applications from its initiated sisters for The Yeardley Love Endowment Scholarship. The endowment was created in memory of Delta Chi sister and UVa lacrosse player Yeardley Love who passed away tragically in a relationship violence incident in 2010. The scholarship seeks to honor Yeardley’s character and her many commitments and involvements at UVa. This year, the scholarship was awarded to second-year Caitlin Schram for her work in combatting relationship violence on college campuses. Caitlin interned for Denoble University Counseling Services, where she helped Mark Denoble increase his social media presence and develop an FOA about domestic and relationship violence. For the FOA, Caitlin assisted Mark in deciding which information would be most helpful to share, and she showed a moving video she had filmed, in which members of Delta Chi read aloud the responses of young men at the University to questions about common behaviors. Some of the responses included how these young men said they would respond in situations in which young women were intoxicated and in need of help. Ultimately, Caitlin’s work with Denoble University Counseling Services, an avid supporter of the One Love Foundation, helped teach University Students the importance of intervening in times of conflict and of preventing domestic assault.
