Eleven members of Kappa Alpha Theta’s Delta Chi chapter attended a conference called Something of Value on April 18, 2015. The conference was sponsored by the National Panhellenic Council, and it aimed to educate sorority women at the University of Virginia about best practices for risk management. Members from every sorority at UVa were in attendance. The first part of the conference included a mock trial that taught members about the liabilities involved with social events and the importance of bystander intervention. The conference attendees broke out into small groups after lunch and had the opportunity to voice concerns about risk management and share best practices for their chapter. It was a great chance to learn from each other. To end the day, all members gathered again to deliver ideas and action plans to the whole group. As a part of the executive team of Delta Chi, I enjoyed the conference, and I felt that the information conveyed by the National Panhellenic Council and the other sorority members will be helpful to our chapter moving forward.
