It’s been a busy few weeks on grounds and Theta’s have been abuzz with excitement beneath the warm hues of the fall trees. Alumni and friends joined in on the fun last week for Homecoming weekend, prancing between favorite spots on the Corner, tailgates, the Syracuse game, and Quad party, welcoming the fall and catching up with old friends.

When asked about her weekend, third year Lila Camillos said, “My homecoming weekend was phenomenal – I had a swell time reuniting with old friends, and even made some new ones! It was sad to say goodbye to alumna, but I look forward to next year!” Blood sisters and sorority sisters alike had the opportunity to reunite and just when the weekend seemed to have reached its peak, UVA claimed a victory over Syracuse in an exciting game that lasted into triple overtime with a final score of 44 to 38, solidifying an already perfect Charlottesville Saturday.

Thomas Jefferson once said, “When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hang on.” This quote to me represents something of the special nature of the University; though we cannot stay forever, the relationships and lessons we’ve acquired here are ones that we will “hang on” to for the rest of our lives. Homecoming weekend explicates this tradition perfectly as it represents a time each year where all of us return home in devotion to each other and to our University.
