Brothers,

I hope you all are doing well and look forward to seeing you all on Grounds soon. If you haven’t already met me, my name is Jake Winters and I am honored to serve as your new Undergraduate Alumni Chair.

Jake Winters I am a third-year student majoring in English and minoring in Computer Science. In my free time, you can usually find me on the UVA tennis courts or hitting at one of the many local driving ranges. This summer, I plan to work at my local golf course and do my best to get in a few rounds here and there. Today, I am writing to update you about this past year at 1811 Lambeth Lane and about some fun upcoming alumni events for the fall!

This past year and a half has been challenging for everyone, and that has also been true for all of us here at UVA. Our Brothers have worked very hard to successfully organize events and promote brotherhood while responsibly working to mitigate the risk of COVID-19. As you know, one of these events was our virtual Alumni Weekend. Although this online experience didn’t compare to welcoming our alumni to Lambeth Lane in person, we all enjoyed keeping in touch and had a fun, virtual experience. Thank you to all who joined us! I am excited to report that we already have an in-person Alumni Weekend in the works for this fall, so please mark your calendars for September 24-25, 2021, to join us on Grounds.

During the pledge process this year, our fraternity brought in a pledge class of seven strong, talented men. Our new brothers are mostly second-years, and include a UVA rower and students majoring in Commerce, Psychology, and Architecture. This year’s pledge class has been a great addition to our fraternity, and we are so glad that they joined our brotherhood! We look forward to introducing them to you in celebration of their initiation.

As you can imagine, it has been quite tough for fraternities to hold events within UVA’s COVID restrictions. While these restrictions have definitely made it a challenge to plan events over the last three semesters, our brothers have managed to successfully organize brotherhood events that were both safe and entertaining. These included brotherhood hikes, spikeball tournaments on Lambeth, and masked gatherings at our house. I am glad that we were able to continue having safe, organized events during these difficult times, and we all look forward to returning to normalcy in the near future.

Please mark your calendars for our Alumni weekend planned for September 24-25, 2021. We are so excited to have our alumni return to 1811 Lambeth Lane and meet our 2020 and 2021 pledge classes in person. We have many fun events planned for the weekend including a tailgate before UVA’s football game versus Wake Forest, a House Celebration on Saturday evening, and a networking and professional development event between brothers and alumni during the day on Saturday. Please stay tuned for more event details coming out soon in our upcoming newsletters!

Finally, we want to thank all of you who have contributed to our 2020-2021 capital campaign and we want to thank those of you who make continuing contributions to Theta Delta Chi. You may also contact our Undergraduate Treasurer Max Sun at max.tdx@gmail.com if you have any questions or need more information.
