One Month Until Alumni Weekend!

Dear Brothers,

We are writing to invite you to make a contribution to our 2020-2021 Capital Improvement Campaign & to strongly encourage your attendance at our 2021 Nu Charge Alumni Weekend from September 24-26.

Our time in the House was made possible only because of the generosity of alumni over the past century who pooled funds to acquire and periodically renovate the House. Now it is our turn.

We are already well on our way to our fundraising goal of $500,000! This was accomplished with the participation of just under 15% of our alumni. Major donors as of August 1 are listed at the end of this letter.

Please consider making your contribution today if you would like to be remembered as someone who helped our great house maintain its historic beauty!

Alumni Weekend

We are delighted to announce that the Annual Theta Delta Chi Nu Charge Alumni Weekend will be held from Friday, September 24 to Sunday, September 26, 2021!

This year’s Alumni Weekend will be jam-packed with opportunities to connect with other Theta Delts, but the main event that you cannot miss will be the House Celebration on Saturday. Beer will be flowing (someone said there’d be 15 kegs), a band will be playing, and the boys will be cheers-ing through the night, “To the Old Lady!” I’m confident that a couple of you might even want to do some Mantle Dives after the night we will be having.

After the party gets started, there will be an explosive opportunity to buy up parts of the house and some of its Theta Delt memorabilia. Be prepared to enter a bidding war with your pledge brothers if you want to walk home with that composite photocopy, get your name on the wall, or be able to name a room! This is our last big push to hit our fundraising goal and it may be your last chance to help us save the house!

This will be an unforgettable night that will also have some time for us to remember our brothers who have entered into Omega. We need to memorialize our brothers and celebrate their lives in a way that only the Nu Charge could!

Theta Delta Chi, 1811 Lambeth Lane – Capital Campaign Work

Our House, which is listed on the Historic Register in the City of Charlottesville, is an important structure within the fabric of the University of Virginia. The last significant renovation was completed over 15 years ago, and now requires substantial rehabilitation. To add to this, the student housing stock has improved significantly during this time, and it is critical that the House is competitive within the local marketplace. Our goal is to make the House not only livable, but a place that Brothers want to live in for years to come.

Renovation Updates

The roof has been renovated! Additional renovations, planned for this year, include: boiler and hot water heater replacement, brick repointing, and gutter and downspout repairs.

We do not yet have sufficient funds to replace the Side Portico, one of the core architectural features of the House, or for much needed interior renovations. Your contributions are extremely necessary to ensure that the House will maintain its historic grandeur for the next 15-20 years.

To learn more about the renovations that need to be made at 1811 Lambeth Lane, follow along with our Capital Campaign efforts on the website.

How to Contribute

We hope you will consider making a substantial contribution today, either online or by mailing a check. Additionally, we encourage you to make a pledge to contribute an additional amount over the next three years. When pledging and donating online, we ask that you contribute at least 40% of your pledge upfront.

For example, for each $1,000 you would like to contribute, you might contribute $400 today and then $17 per month for 36 months, for a total of $1,012. For example, if you wanted to contribute $5,000, you would contribute $2,000 today and $85 per month for 36 months.

For alumni in the early stages of their careers or facing challenging circumstances, we encourage you to join the “18.11 Club” by agreeing to contribute $18.11 or more per month.

Some alumni have donated shares of appreciated stock, which can confer substantial tax benefits. This can be stock you own in the company you work for or stock you purchased on the open market. Please contact us about how to arrange this.

For more information on ways to donate, please visit our website’s “Support” page.

After you make your contribution, please complete this form to notify us of your contribution and/or pledge.

We Need You!

We would urge you to consider as significant a gift as your means permit. All contributions count as a gift to the University of Virginia, and, if this is a reunion year for your class, may be counted towards your class gift.

Please reach out to your class captain or to the campaign manager, Robbie Hodgson (‘20), at rsh5xe@virginia.edu or 540-303-3625 (cell) if you have any questions or concerns.
