Happy Holidays Ubunye!
As we close out the fall semester here on Grounds, BSA is excited to share some of the work we’ve been doing over the semester!
Event Spotlight
Throughout the course of the semester, our committees hosted a variety of events for our members and beyond. Our General Body Meetings, “Are You Smarter Than a 1st Year” and “Friendsgiving” were huge successes, giving space for our Black students to enjoy company with one another. Our Political Action Committee put in great efforts to co-host the 9th annual Disorientation, which aims to provide students with the history of the ways power functions at UVA and other institutions. The committee also worked with the Queer Student Union and Asian Student Union to host a two-part series called “Breaking the Ballot” prior to the election to give students resources and a safe space to discuss the stakes in the election.
Upcoming Events
Black Love Soirée
The Black Love Soirée is a highly anticipated annual celebration that brings together music, fellowship, fashion, and more for an unforgettable evening. This year, the event will take place on February 8, 2025, at The Center at Belvedere. UVA’s Black Student Alliance (BSA) is excited to partner with Charlottesville’s Black Professional Network (BPN) to enhance student involvement in both the planning and programming. As part of this collaboration, BSA will feature performances and contributions from several student organizations!
Black Ball
BSA will hold our annual Black Ball during the month of February! This formal event celebrates Black culture and student achievements through featuring student organizations and awarding our annual Black Ball Scholarship.
