Message to UVA Retired Faculty

September 2021

Greetings from the Board of Directors of the UVA Retired Faculty Association. We hope you are well and are finding new and creative ways to enjoy and enhance life in retirement despite the ongoing pandemic. As we begin what appears to be another unpredictable academic year, we wanted to reach out to all retired faculty to make sure we stay connected and keep you informed regarding what we have planned this upcoming year. As a retired colleague, we encourage your continued interest and involvement in our activities and with what is going on at the University.

Although we still look forward to the eventual return of some in-person activities, we presently plan to continue to offer our virtual zoom presentations. We have just finalized our speaker series for the year, and we are pleased to report that we have had great success in recruiting a wonderful group of presenters in the upcoming months. You will find the complete listing here. Note that we are offering you the opportunity to participate in a series of small seminars, and we will hear from President Ryan in March.

Because our activities will continue to be virtual, we have decided to continue our temporary suspension of dues and ask again for voluntary donations to allow us to cover our out-of-pocket costs. We have contracted again this year with the UVA Alumni Association, and we will again be offering closed captioning of our speaker series. If you would consider supporting us financially, we would be most appreciative.

We look forward to an interesting and eventful year, and we hope you will continue to stay connected and involved with us. Please let us know if you have questions, comments or suggestions. Be well and be safe.

Warm regards,
