“Lexie McVey, 91, of Charlottesville, Va., passed away on December 29, 2020. She was the youngest of four children who all preceded her in death. Lexie was born on April 20, 1929, in Harlan, Kentucky, to the late Cecil Van and Mary Alma Bard. John L. Colley, Jr. • 1930 – July 15, 2020
“John departed this life in the early morning of Wednesday, July 15, 2020. He was “Leonard” to his parents, John Leonard Colley Sr. and Icie Myrle Hall Colley, and to his late wife of 58 years, Tommie Love Lancaster Colley. He was “Dad” to John Lawrence (Larry) Colley (spouse Amy), Claire Ellen Colley, and Thomas Michael (Mike) Colley (spouse Cathy), and was “John” to 50 years of dearly loved students and associates at The University of Virginia. Robert Lee Vickery Jr. • 1932 – August 10, 2019
“In 1969, Bob was invited to join the University of Virginia’s School of Architecture as the Thomas Jefferson Visiting Professor in Architecture. During his three-decade tenure at UVA, Bob made an indelible mark on the University’s architecture program by helping to implement the school’s 4-2 architectural curriculum and by mentoring close to 4,000 students, both in Charlottesville and through travel programs in Venice and Vicenza, Italy.” Read more on the Daily Progress website.
Dr. John T. Roberts • 1934 – August 5, 2019
“In 1966, Dr. Roberts took a position at the University of Virginia teaching Hindi, Sanskrit, and linguistics. He taught at UVA for 32 years, serving as chairman of the then-named Oriental Languages division several times. He authored a number of books concentrating on old and medieval poetry of India.
