Student Initiatives

 Asian Leaders Council

Asian Leaders Council is looking to host a podcast this fall featuring interviews with Asian Alumni. We hope to explore topics such as career success, cultural stereotypes in the workplace, and struggles with Asian identity in college. We want to learn about and share the important life lessons learned by Asian alumni with the younger generation of UVA students as they embark on their professional and personal journeys. Please let us know if you are an APIDA identifying alumni who are willing to share your experiences at UVA and in the workplace. Please reach out to Divya Shan (dms5pc@virginia.edu).

Reflections

The Asian/Asian American Oral History Initiative is a project of Reflections: Oral Histories at UVA- a student run oral history project that seeks to fill in the gaps of institutional history for UVa students, faculty, staff, and community members. This initiative in particular hopes to capture the heterogeneity and diversity of the Asian/Asian American experience across a broad variety of ethnic backgrounds at UVa by reclaiming our histories through storytelling. These stories are essential to recognizing where we have been, where we are currently, and what we should aspire to be in the future.

We are currently seeking interviewees to participate in the Asian/Asian American Oral History Initiative. These interviews will be recorded, transcribed, and posted as a combination of write-ups and sound bites under the Reflections: Oral History website. If you wish to contribute to our mission by interviewing with us, recommending potential interviewees, or if you have any further questions, we invite you to email Lauren Xue at lax4db@virginia.edu or Kamya Sanjay at ks4qm@virginia.edu.
