Donate Now to Support Student Journalism for Another 130 Years!

Dear Reader,

My name is Gracie Kreth and I’m currently the Editor-in-Chief of The Cavalier Daily. I am reaching out to see if you would consider making a tax-deductible donation to The Cavalier Daily.

The Cavalier Daily has remained the premier student newspaper on Grounds at UVA and has a continuously growing staff of more than 450 students. By supporting The Cavalier Daily, you are not only supporting independent journalism but also helping students grow into journalists.

This term we have covered a lot — blackface within UVA’s Corks and Curls yearbook, the Honor Bicentennial Review, all the Hoos national championship wins, the faculty gender pay gap, and University President Jim Ryan’s 10-year strategic plan and capital campaign. We told stories about students from rural towns in Virginia and their experience at UVA, and uncovered more information on the University’s admissions process, sparking meaningful conversations around Grounds.

We are working to develop a strong digital presence to engage with readers. We created a weekly podcast called “On Record,” which can be found on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. We produced a commemorative issue to celebrate the CD’s 130th Anniversary.

The Cavalier Daily was recently ranked #4 for best public university newspaper by the Princeton Review, and we won several Virginia Press Association awards this year for our coverage of the anniversary of August 11 and 12 in Charlottesville and also personal essays by Life Columnist Aly Lee.

Your donation means a lot to our organization. You can help us remain financially independent and continue to serve the UVA community.

Sincerely,
Gracie
