Reunions—June 11, 2022

We are looking forward to welcoming the classes of 2007, 2012, and 2017 back to Grounds in just a few weeks! As a reminder, the CMBAA is hosting a gathering at the Hunter Smith Band Building on Saturday, June 11, 2022, from 3-4pm. Register today!

Band Banquet 2022

Graduation Cords that were passed out at the spring 2022 band banquet

On April 27, CMB students once again gathered in the HSBB for Band Banquet after not being able to celebrate together for the past two years. The CMBAA’s Chair, Kelly Graham, and Vice Chair, Matthew Funston, had the opportunity to speak with the students and welcome graduating fourth and fifth years into the alumni community. As a token of the CMBAA’s appreciation and admiration of the tremendous impact made by the Class of 2022, Kelly and Matthew presented graduating students with graduation cords.

They shared that “it is only fitting that [students] have this visual representation of [their] service to the CMB and the University community.” This was made possible by the generosity of those who have made gifts to the CMBAA, and we look forward to continuing this tradition in years to come.

The CMBAA Network

We are grateful to have a fantastic partnership with the CMB’s new Director of Bands, Dr. Elliott Tackitt. Recently, we asked Dr. Tackitt how we can be of better service to current students in the CMB. One request that he has heard from students is to have more opportunities for networking and mentorship with CMB alumni. To facilitate this, we have launched the CMB Network LinkedIn Group . We welcome students, alumni, and friends of the CMB to this group. Please take a moment to join and make a post introducing yourself! We hope that this will lead to more formal networking and mentorship opportunities for students and alumni alike, such as in-person and virtual industry-focused events, and CMB meet-ups in your local community.
