Welcome Back to Dean Lynn Davis

Article from http://college.artsandsciences.virginia.edu/echols

Dean William Wilson, Professor of Religious Studies and Association Dean and Director of the Echols Scholars Program is retiring as of October 1, 2012. In Dean Wilson’s 25 years of distinguished service to the University, he has fulfilled many roles: as an Association Dean, working with undergraduate research programs and the Center for Undergraduate Excellence, directing the Political and Social Thought Program, and most recently, as Dean and Director of the Echols Scholars Program. Dean Wilson has been a much valued advisor, mentor, and teacher for thousands of University of Virginia students and he will be greatly missed in his current role. After October 1, Dean Wilson will continue his work with the University through the Jefferson Scholars Foundation.

Beginning October 1, the Echols Scholar community will be served by one of its own – Lynn Davis will be returning to serve as Interim Echols Dean until June 1, 2013. Dean Davis has a PhD in cell biology and previously taught in the Biology Department in addition to serving as Dean and Director of the Echols Scholars Program for many years until 2002. We are thrilled that Dean Davis has agreed to return to advise Echols students and direct the program. Dean Davis’s office will be in 264 Monroe Hall (the same office that Dean Wilson currently occupies) and her office hours will begin on October 2.

Please wish Dean Wilson success in his new position and please welcome Dean Davis back to the Echols Scholars Program.
