Beta Psi Alumni Club is forming! Become a charter member!
We, the undersigned Alumni, invite you to join us as Charter Members of the Beta Psi Alumni Association (BPAA), which is now fully recognized by SAM National and has recently been approved by the vote of the Octagon.
For some years now, a number of us have enjoyed the fun at the Fall Alumni Weekend (this year on October 4-6, 2024) which has been partially supported by the Beta Psi Housing Corporation (BPHC). BPAA represents an effort to foster greater alumni involvement and communication. We also hope that BPAA can take on the financial burden for the weekend and for some of the website costs, which has also been fully funded in the past by BPHC. This will allow BPHC to concentrate on the finances and upkeep of the physical house on Grounds. This effort is really aimed at reconnecting and strengthening the bonds of the Alumni body and ensuring the continuity of the Fall Alumni Weekend.
For years the hotel room block has not required a guaranty. But, with the Hotel’s change in ownership, the need for some funds to do that will likely change. The BPAA needs to be in a position to have funds to provide that guaranty. Additionally, there is an initiative to sponsor a catered event that would be at a location other than the back yard of the SAM house on either Friday or Saturday. That ongoing event would require funds as well to reserve a location, secure a caterer, etc. for breaking bread together and maybe drinking a beer or two!
We have also discussed other sponsored events outside of Charlottesville (i.e. Atlanta, NYC, DMV, West Coast) or at UVA Athletic Events and ACC/NCAA playoffs. Our capabilities are unknown until we know how many of you will join us in this effort and we are able to gauge the enthusiasm of the group. The Fall Alumni Weekend has been well attended and has been great fun, but we need the ability to get together as a unified Alumni body on several occasions which will allow alums from different eras to meet and bond with each other. There will still be plenty of time to interact separately with your class eras as well. The organizers of the Fall Alumni Weekend are growing older and feel a need to enlist the involvement of the younger alums to ensure the continuity of the Fall Alumni Weekend for the foreseeable future. This is not being accomplished with the weekend as it is, in its present format.
We hope that you will join us today in supporting these goals by donating either $50 for one year or $250 for six years to the “Beta Psi Alumni Association” fund held at the UVA Alumni Association.

We expect to elect officers and approve by-laws via Zoom within the next 90-120 days. We hope to see each of you in the fall.
