The Beta Psi Chapter of Sigma Alpha Mu Welcomes You Back to the Grounds for a Fall Alumni Weekend Friday, October 15 to Sunday October 17, 2021.
This year’s Fall Alumni Weekend will take place October 15-17, 2021. Below are a list of activities and events for you to enjoy over the course of the weekend.
Friday, October 15
Afternoon Golf
- Anyone interested in playing golf on Friday, please send an email to Skip Fitz. He will keep a list and get back with you when we get about one week out and can make tee times at a course in Charlottesville.
Friday Night Reception
6 – 10pm, Starr Hill Brewery, 946 Grady Ave.
- Brewery is located within the Dairy Market Building (~0.4 mile walk from the Hampton Inn).
- Outside seating is unreserved.

Saturday, October 16
The Illimitable Freedom of the Human Mind: Thomas Jefferson’s Idea of a University
10-11am, UVA Alumni Hall, Ballroom
- Join Andrew O’Shaughnessy, Saunders Director of the Robert H. Smith International Studies at Monticello, discuss his most recent book which focuses on the life and accomplishments of Thomas Jefferson. In addition to his work at Monticello, Mr. O’Shaughnessy is a history professor here at UVA.

Wine Tasting Tour
1-4pm
- Thatch Winery
- Michael Schaps Wineworks
- Both wineries are within a 30 minute drive of Charlottesville. Located off of Route 20 on Harris Creek Way. Self guided Tasting tours at both wineries will be between 1 and 4 P. M. They are subject to any COVID-19 restrictions in place at the winery so please be flexible.
- Outside seating unreserved.
- Howard Siegel and Merry will be at the Thatch Winery around 1 PM. For those that don’t know what he looks like…He will be wearing a Purple SAM 50th Reunion baseball cap. We have had about 6 people express an interest as an alternative to the attending the football game.

Party starts at 4:30pm
Come and enjoy food and drinks with the current brothers and alumni in the front and back of the house!
- COVID-19 protocols will be implemented for food and drink service.
- Bartenders are being arranged and ABC regulations will apply. Cash only.
- All alumni and guests must register for this event. Tickets are $28 per person.
- Register by October 1, 2021 to ensure an accurate count for the caterer. No cash accepted at the event for the food.

Virginia VS Duke Football Game – Kickoff time 12:30pm

- Tickets for the football game can be purchased from Fevo using the link above.
- Deadline for purchasing tickets will be Tuesday, October 12 at 11:59pm.
- Tickets will be sent to buyers in mobile format three days prior to the game. Fees of $3.50 per ticket apply. Mobile phone format ticket will be used at entrance gate.
- Buyers will get a confirmation email with a unique link to share with family/friends. People who buy with this unique link will be seated close together with the original buyer within the seat block in 111 (70 total seats allocated among rows MM-PP).
- Group members may email Fevo Support at support@fevo.com for assistance with their ticket purchase.
- All orders must be placed online through the link above to be seated within the ticket block.
