Spring 2018 Newsletter

Brothers,

We hope this newsletter finds you and your family safe, happy, and healthy. We are extremely sorry to hear about the passing of one of our chartering members, Butch Bryant. The brotherhood extends our condolences to Butch’s family, friends, and the brothers of Beta-Pi who were touched by him through the course of his life. A picture of Butch is below and a Remembrance written by Beta-Pi, Jim Cosby can be found here.

This spring, we had 14 pledges become brothers at Beta-Pi. They were here for our 10th Annual Surf ‘n’ Turf philanthropy event, which raised over $2,500 benefiting the Alzeimer’s Association. That was followed by the entertaining UVA tradition, The Foxfield Races.

Additionally, we are excited to announce that the Beta-Pi 60th Anniversary celebration will take place in early April 2019. We look forward to seeing our alumni join us for a weekend of fun, reunion, and brotherhood! A save-the-date will be sent out soon regarding details for the event.

We’re ready for an eventful summer to carry us into the next fall semester. As always, we welcome and encourage alumni to contact us or come by the house at any time.

A Remembrance of Herman “Butch” Bryant By Jim Cosby. “I met Butch Bryant in the 1958 – 1959 school year at the University of Virginia. During that year, a group of undergraduate students who were not happy with the fraternity scene we found at UVA formed the Beta Pi Chapter of Sigma Pi Fraternity.” Continue reading here.
