The Foxfield Horse Races are always a highlight of the spring semester! A longstanding University tradition, nothing beats the warm weather, bright colored sundresses and influx of returning alumni that come along with the Saturday Spring Races each April. This year, we figured there was no better way to kick off the weekend than to gather our active members and returning alumni for a Founder’s Day celebration at the house. It was truly such a great way to not only reconnect with recent graduates but also meet with other fellow Thetas that live in and around the Charlottesville area. The highlight of the evening was the reveal of the first ever scholarship and grant recipients of the Yeardley Love Endowment.

This endowed fund was created to forever honor the legacy of Yeardley Love as a student, athlete, and member of the Delta Chi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta. Jessica Rizzuto (’14) was awarded a scholarship for her academic achievement and involvement at the University- serving as an Honor Advisor and member on the Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy Council. Denoble Counseling Services was awarded a program grant that will promote their efforts in offering specialized counseling, therapy services and educational programming to the Charlottesville and University Community. Lastly, after recently completing the Teach for America program in Houston, Texas, Natalie Mencio (’11) was awarded the alumnae grant. Natalie will begin Law School at the University of Pennsylvania this fall! Congratulations to our three Yeardley Love Endowment recipients!
