This September, Delta Chi kicked off the school year by teaming up with Delta Gamma for the “Do Good Week” initiative. “Do Good Week” was created to help encourage the UVa community to give back, help others, and “do a good deed.” In order to promote the initiative, Delta Chi members, alongside DG, manned tables on the lawn and outside the libraries that held colorful posters on which students passing by could pledge what good deed they could do that week. These pledges ranged from donating to a food bank, to calling a relative, to simply picking up trash on grounds. No matter what the pledge was, the ultimate focus was to inspire any type of good deed or action that can be done everyday, but whose significance and impact may be lost without reminders like this week.theta

The initiative gained even more exposure when it was promoted via social media as well. Delta Chi members took pictures next to their individual pledges and posted the photo on instagram or facebook with the hashtags, #CharitableKATS and #DG&KATDoGoodWeek.

The week culminated in a brunch between Delta Chi and DG where the different sororities could get to know each other better and swap stories about what good deeds they had accomplished that week.
