The 5th annual Run For Yeards 5k was an incredible success! This year included a series of firsts. Leading up to the race, we had an event nearly every day to encourage the chapter’s focus and enthusiasm. Monday, we participated in an Escalation Workshop; we watched a video depicting the reality of relationship violence and engaged in group discussions on our reactions and proactive steps to prevent future occurrences. Tuesday, we hosted a Lululemon trunk show at the house. Many girls came to shop and support us. 20% of proceeds from sales went to the One Love Foundation. Wednesday, Opal Yoga hosted a free class for the community. All donations were sent to the One Love Foundation. Finally, Saturday was a beautiful, sunny race day on Mad Bowl. We had over 300 runners registered! Our own third-year Theta, Caroline Hentzen was the first female finisher and second finisher overall. After the race, we took a moment to reflect on the reason behind the race and heard Mark DeNoble of the DeNoble University Counseling Services share his thoughts on how to prevent relationship violence on Grounds. The Yeardley Reynolds Love Endowment Scholarship was presented to Caitlin Schram, a second-year Theta and DeNoble intern. The entire chapter truly came together to put on this amazing event. We want to thank all who supported Theta and Yeardley through your participation and donations!
