Dear Alumnae and Friends of the Chorus,
It is hard to believe that fall weather is approaching and a new school year is already upon us. The Chorus has already been hard at work publicizing and holding auditions and welcoming our new members. This semester is already looking to be an exciting one. On September 12th, we were delighted to have the opportunity to be the first chorus to sing the National Anthem at a UVa football game—the home opener against Notre Dame. We hope to sing the National Anthem at a couple other fall sporting events, and at the end of October we will come together with the Virginia Glee Club and the University Singers to participate in the Family Weekend Choral Showcase. Finally, on December 4th and 5th, we will hold our Annual Candlelight Concerts in the UVa Chapel. These concerts are my favorite Chorus event and are something I look forward to and enjoy working toward every year. There is just something about singing in the Chapel that is truly magical, and since these Candlelight Concerts will be my last ones, they already hold an extra special place in my heart. I hope you will be able to join us on Grounds this fall for some of these wonderful events. It is my pleasure to continue to work with the Managing and Appointed Boards, as well as our amazing director, KaeRenae Mitchell, to make the Women’s Chorus the best it can possibly be. Thank you all for your ongoing love and support.
Sincerely,
Shelby Lipes
