AAPAAN Announces Signature Event

AAPAAN proudly announces its first ever “Signature Event” to be held in Charlottesville, Virginia on April 13, 2013. The “Signature Event” will provide an opportunity for alumni to return to Grounds once a year to reunite with AAPAAN, students, and U.Va. The event is intended to be an ambitious annual gathering that connects and re-connects U.Va. alumni and students not only from the various regions of the United States but also from the broader international connections and reach of AAPAAN.

The “Signature Event” coincides with the second awarding of AAPAAN’s Jack T. Chen Memorial Scholarship. The Jack T. Chen Memorial Scholarship is a merit scholarship established in 2011 to provide financial support to rising 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year U.Va. students to help them achieve their academic and future career goals at U.Va. The scholarship is awarded annually in the spring as selected by AAPAAN. Jack was one of four brothers from the Chen family who attended U.Va., but tragically passed away in a car accident during his third year. The scholarship memorializes Jack and provides an opportunity for a U.Va. Asian American student to fulfill the work that Jack intended to complete.

Portions of the receipts from the “Signature Event” will be dedicated to help fund the Jack T. Chen Scholarship.
