The ATΩ Creed states: “To bind men together in a brotherhood based upon eternal and immutable principles”, and the Delta Chapter has done just that — creating lifelong bonds of friendship. Alpha Tau Omega came to fruition on September 1865, just four short months after the conclusion of the Civil War.
Through those four tumultuous months, Otis Allan Glazebrook devised the creation of a fraternal organization focused on the Christian ideal of brotherly love in order to mend the fractured relationship between the North and the South. This idea became a reality on September 11, 1865, as Glazebrook was joined by close friends Alfred Marshall and Erskine Mayo Ross at his home on 114 East Clay Street in Richmond, Virginia to sign the Alpha Tau Omega Constitution.
The Virginia Delta Chapter of Alpha Tau Omega was chartered on November 25, 1868 by William George Bennett and Frederick A. Berlin. To this day, the Delta Chapter has created friendships, memories, and brotherhood.
