Capital Campaign Update: Progress on Construction Plans

Four years after launching our latest Capital Campaign, we have finally begun the first phases of the construction process for an expanded and improved Chapter house! In January we retained a lead architect, structural engineer, civil engineer, and surveyor crew to begin work on detailed plans for the new house design. We expect the first iteration of those plans to be completed in early spring, which we will share with all Chapter alumni. We will then begin the construction permitting process with the City of Charlottesville and the Board of Architectural Review, keeping us on track to start construction as early as spring 2021.

While these are exciting developments and certainly cause for celebration, it’s important to note that we are still seeking additional donors from our alumni base to carry us over the finish line. Thanks to the generous support from more than 180 donors, our combined donations and pledges as of February total over $587,000. We are aiming for $700,000 by the time we start construction, and we need your support to get us there. A strong finish to this campaign would ensure that we are well-capitalized and positioned for a successful and timely delivery of the improved Chapter house, and secure ATΩ’s future at the University of Virginia for future generations of Taus.

Our current fiscal year runs through May 31, 2020 which is the cutoff to donate and have your name listed in the Delta Dispatch. As a reminder, anyone who donates $5,000 or more will also have their photo featured on the Rebuilders’ Composite displayed in the new Great Room. To date, 58 alumni are on track to be included in the Rebuilders’ Composite. We hope you will consider joining them!
