Alpha Notes April 2018

The Alpha Chapter has had an extremely successful Spring 2018. Last year, we had our most successful rush to date admitting 28 new brothers. We followed that up with another strong rush, with 23 new brothers joining the House. Our newest pledge class has shown great dedication to the house, and we are confident that each of these men will provide valuable contributions to the Chapter moving forward. These men are from all over the country, ranging from Washington, to Vermont, to Florida, and of course Virginia. In total, the new class hails from 10 states and three countries, which includes Australia and France. With the addition of our new members, the Chapter has grown to a healthy 76 members. All 16 of our fourth years will graduate in May.

The annual Hoodang Philanthropy took place this Spring and was extremely successful. The brotherhood and friends of the chapter enjoyed a band out on the quad in beautiful Spring weather. This year Hoodang served to benefit Camp Kesem – a summer camp for children whose parents suffer from cancer. Many of our active brothers are counselors at Camp Kesem, and the Chapter is honored to support such a meaningful cause.

The active brothers would welcome any inquiries from alumni and would love to hear from any alumni currently in the Charlottesville area. As always, the doors of the house remain open to any alumni visiting the University. If we can be of any assistance, please reach out to myself (ttresness@gmail.com) or our Chapter Advisor, Jerry Reid (jmr6rd@virginia.edu.)
