Alpha Notes May 2022

The Alpha Chapter had an extremely successful fall semester to finish up 2021, and an even better start to 2022. In the spring, we held the most successful rush in the history of our Alpha Chapter, admitting 30 new brothers. The entire Alpha Chapter is thrilled to have welcomed a robust and well-rounded group of new brothers who have already demonstrated an amazing commitment to the house. We are confident that each man will prove a worthy addition to the house, and many of the new brothers are already contributing in roles of responsibility in the Chapter. We are very excited to see what the future will hold this fall as they further develop their roles as leaders for the Chapter.

In addition to the great new group of brothers joining the house this spring, we were also thrilled to have our first semester since the start of COVID in March of 2020 in which our Chapter was able to operate at full capacity without the hindrance of University or State restrictions. As such, we revived our ‘Hoodang’ philanthropy event to benefit Operation Smile, which was a great success. The event was held on the quad and featured live music, a dunk tank, food, and drinks, and was aided by terrific spring weather. Moving forward into the fall, as the next class moves into the house, we are looking into ways to further revamp our philanthropic efforts by bringing back the Chi Phi Oktoberfest philanthropy event.

These activities and many others are welcome to any alumni, and we appreciate the alumni who have taken the time to stop by this past year as well as those who have reached out to support our Chapter. The doors of the house are always open, and if we can be of assistance in any way, please reach out to myself or the Chapter Advisor, Jerry Reid, at jmr6rd@virginia.edu.
