Brothers of the Psi Chapter,
We’d like to update you on our progress revitalizing our chapter. Last Spring we took the necessary steps to ensure the immediate survival of the chapter, and laid out several key goals for the 2021-2022 academic year:
- Build alumni engagement through regular communications
- Complete urgent repairs to the fraternity house
- Support the chapter’s recruitment and membership education efforts
- Raise funds from our alumni to support the chapter’s operations and each of the previous goals
As we look forward to the upcoming academic year, we have positive results to report on all these goals:
- We have now distributed four eNewsletters and one US Mail letter. Our tracking indicates that we have reached over 400 alumni with our message.
- We have completed significant repairs and upgrades to the fraternity house.
- The chapter had a successful rush year resulting in the recruitment of nine new members. 14 members will be returning for the 2022-2023 academic year.
- We surpassed our initial $60,000 target for our annual campaign by $10,000. We raised slightly over $70,000 from 127 alumni.
We recruited a new Chapter Advisor for the brotherhood in March of this year. Ken Haines ʼ92 is a Psi chapter alumnus who lives in Charlottesville. Ken has met with the chapter several times to start the process of building a strong working relationship with the brothers. We also updated the composition of the Column Club Board of Directors. The current members of the board are:
- Bill Hamilton ’79 (President)
- Bob Light ’83 (Treasurer)
- Chandler Williams ’91 (Secretary)
- Ken Haines ’92 (Chapter Advisor)
- David Winters ʼ22 (Chapter President)
We’ve made a lot of progress since last spring, but we still have significant work to do. The Column Club board met recently and identified the following goals for the 2022-2023 academic year:
- Support the chapter’s growth and development
- Reach full occupancy for the 2023-2024 academic year
- Continue repairs and improvements to the physical house
- Continue our communications contract with the Alumni Association
- Conduct an annual campaign for 2022-2023
