Work Weekend 2022

Bob Light ʼ83 aiding in carpentry efforts for the house
Carpentry in Action – Bob Light ʼ83

Last summer, more than two dozen alumni from Virginia, Maryland, DC, West Virginia, and North Carolina came back to Charlottesville for two work weekends to help the current actives fix up the house. The work completed included:

  • Structural, plumbing, and wiring repairs in several rooms
  • Installation of several new doors and frames
  • Refinishing most of the floors and stairways
  • Repairing and painting several windows
  • Trimming and weeding the hedges
  • Cleaning out the entire house and the yard
  • Painting the common areas, porches and several of the bedrooms

We plan to continue this effort this summer and in summers to come. This summer’s work weekend is scheduled for July 16 & 17, 2022. We are still determining the work to be completed, but have already identified the following items:

  • Bathroom repairs and improvements
  • Painting exterior windows
  • Painting doors and walls
  • Putting up a new door for the kitchen
  • Adding locksets to the kitchen and work closet doors

Please consider joining us for this event. It’s a great opportunity to pitch in together for the house and to meet the active brothers. We’ve sent out a Facebook invite for this event. If you are interested in participating but did not receive the invite (or do not use facebook), please reach out to us at psk.psi.chapter.aag@gmail.com and we’ll be sure to keep you up to date on the details.
