UVA Community Spotlight: Zoe Pettler (CLAS ’18)

Zoe Pettler is an undergraduate fourth year College of Arts and Sciences student majoring in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies (WGS) and Religious Studies. For her Distinguished Major Project in the WGS Department she is writing on the topic of Queer temporality. This is Zoe’s second year serving as the Vice President of Education for the Queer Student Union, where she leads the biweekly general body meetings on a variety of educational topics relevant to the LGBTQ community at the Wesley Foundation Building. Zoe also holds the position of Programs Intern at the LGBTQ Center, and has used this opportunity to modify the ally education program, “Safe Space Training”, for more effective delivery. After graduation, Zoe will become a Double Hoo and continue her education with a Master’s in Philosophy from UVA in order to prepare her for further academic work in the field of Queer Theory. In her free time she enjoys exploring the diversity of restaurants in Charlottesville and reading.
