Hello Alumni and Friends!
The annual Virginia Rowing day/banquet is on the horizon, and we hope you’ll attend!
Date: Saturday, November 8.
We have several events lined up.
First, on Saturday morning, at 9 a.m., dust off your clubs and enjoy some alumni golf at Meadowcreek Golf Course! We cannot emphasize strongly enough that actual skill with golf clubs is not required. It’s just a fun morning—a chance to marvel at Mike Blanchette’s soaring tee shots and enjoy the fall air. Green fee and cart are about $50, which can be paid the morning of at the course. Please e-mail Mike Blanchette at rowcoachb@yahoo.com to sign up.
At 2:00 p.m., we start the class day races. Each of the current novice classes will race each other in 8s, 4s, 2-s, and 1Xs. Alumni are invited to compete as well! If you want to test your mettle against the current crop of rowers, e-mail Mike Blanchette at rowcoachb@yahoo.com. It’s first-come, first-served for shell availability.
At 3:30 p.m., we’ll have a post-racing burger buffet. Great chance to meet the current team, especially the novices and their parents (also a perfect opportunity to explain to those parents why rowing is very much worth their dues payments!).
At 5:00 p.m., the alumni reunion time begins, with dinner at 6:00 p.m. $40 covers dinner and beverages.
For those not registering, cost is $50 at the door.
Around 8:00 p.m., we’ll have the not-so-silent auction. Banquet officially ends at 10:00 p.m. Crew house fun to follow.
