As much fun as the SIRA Championships were, things are now getting serious and the pressure will be felt. Despite the “embrace the pressure” mentality, everything is happening fast now: final exams and projects, the training gets intense, and then the National Championship are fast approaching – all in less than a few weeks.
The team will travel to Oak Ridge mid-week before the regatta starts on Friday, May 17 with preliminary races. The V8 will most likely be ranked first or second and competition for all boats will be fierce. Most likely we will race the four eights, as well as the 4+, 4x, and 2x. Like last year, these dates coincide with the UVA graduation weekend. To ensure our graduates feel celebrated, we will have a dinner for the whole team and parents on May 17.
