Alumnae Corner, News and Updates

Letter from the Director, Katherine “KaeRenae” Mitchell

Greetings to all you lovely singers! I hope you are all well, and that the weather here today (in the 60’s) is more than a teaser of spring. The Chorus would love to hear from you and what you’re up to. I hope you are finding some place to use your beautiful voices. Feel free to write us about your latest activities!

The Chorus is entering mid-life and we are NOT having a crisis. In fact, the ensemble is growing and going strong, and we have an extremely competent and motivated Managing Board and Appointed Board. We’re planning to stay in better contact with you and send an e-newsletter every 6-8 weeks. If you’d like to be the next alumna in the spotlight, please let us know!

We’re very excited about our upcoming concert – Lights, Camera, Action! – that will feature songs from movies and Broadway. We’d love for you to celebrate spring with us with current favorites, including “Let It Go,” classics, spirituals, and Appalachian folk music. For more information, please visit our website.

So please mark the date for our spring concert – Saturday March, 29 at 3:30 in Old Cabell Hall – and come hear your sisters in song! There will be a reception to follow in Garden IX, and we would love to see you at that, as well!

Also, please stop by and see us during your Reunions Weekend, Saturday, June 7. We will be having a reception in Garden III from 3-4 pm with the Glee Club.

One personal note from me: just had to share some exciting news! JT (aka John Thomas) is getting married in July to a lovely girl he’s known for years.

As always, we are so very grateful for you, for your support, and for being a part of the chorus that keeps evolving.

Wishing you a (very early) Happy Spring!
